FREE 2015 Annual General Meeting - Feat. David Barrett

Tuesday, January 27th, 2015 at 5:30pm - 8pm

Location: American Family Insurance, Building A 6000 American Parkway, Madison, WI

This event is in the past.

Join us at American Family Insurance on January 27th, 2015 starting at 5:30 pm for our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

At the AGM, enjoy a great dinner, speak directly with and learn more about our sponsors, listen to
David Barrett present "What is in Your Communications Engine," and receive wonderful door prizes from our sponsors.

Also, the board has been working on revising the current Chapter bylaws to improve Chapter flexibility , as well as readability. There a few reasons we have identified that lead to these revisions. First, some of the bylaws were too restrictive with duties and specific dates. For example, the current bylaws state the AGM must be held in January, which leaves the board no room to move the event due to weather or scheduling conflicts. Second, some areas were ambiguous with wording, while others were too detailed. We sought to update the sections to be informative but still readable by our Chapter members. Lastly, some bylaws had to be updated for improvements with technology such as membership sign up, voting, and nominations. The document has been reduced to a few pages while still maintaining the spirit and intent of each section, and still aligning with the International bylaws and goals.

We will be voting on these updated bylaws during the AGM event. Any paid Chapter members from 2014 or 2015 may vote at the event. To view the current bylaws, click here. To view the proposed new bylaws, click here. Please let the Chapter know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the updates. We can be reached at info@madison.iiba.org.

All of the work we do relies on a steady flow of well-timed, accurate and manageable information.  We have tools, technology, techniques and a lot of people around us to make this information available to ourselves and others. But are we using them properly?  Are we using the right tools at the right time in the right place?  Are we using our technology the way the work and hand requires?  Are the techniques we employ doing the job?  And are the people around us helping or hindering the process?

Our Communications Engine is the sum of all the parts that contribute to the flow of information in our lives. This session will allow us to think about some of the components of a well-oiled, smooth Communications Engine.
